ELT Control Panel

Overview

The ELT (Emergency Locator Transmitter) Control Panel allows the crew or qualified maintenance personnel to arm, activate, or test the ELT system. Once activated, the ELT transmits distress signals on emergency frequencies to assist in rescue operations.

Panel Components

ELT Switch

  • ARMED: The ELT is armed. When activated (automatically or manually), the system transmits distress signals on 121.5 MHz, 243 MHz, and 406 MHz.
  • ON: The ELT is manually activated. The ELT activation/test light flashes, and cockpit speakers emit continuous chimes.

    • To reset, toggle the switch back to the ARMED position.

ELT Activation/Test Light

  • Flashes when the ELT is either performing a built-in test or sending distress signals.
  • To perform a self-test:

    • Toggle the switch to ON and hold for 1–2 seconds
    • Then return the switch to ARMED

Note

The ELT built-in test can only be performed by qualified maintenance personnel.
