Overview
The Cursor Control Device (CCD) is used to control the cursor and make selections on the Multi-Function Display (MFD). This controller integrates various buttons and a trackball to enable fast navigation and selection of display content or menu items.
Controller Function Details
DSK Knob
- Outer ring: Rotates to change the MAP range and scroll through pages, similar to the RANGE knob on the DCP panel.
- Inner ring: Rotates to select letters and numbers, functioning like the input keyboard on the MKB.
- Push center (PUSH ENTER): Confirms selection or executes the input command, equivalent to the ENTER key on the MKB.
Trackball
- Moves the cursor on the display, with the same functionality as the arrow keys on the MKB.
Upper Display Select Button (DSPL SEL/UPR)
- Quickly assigns the cursor to an upper Integrated Display Unit (IDU).
Note
If the cursor does not appear after aircraft power-up, this button can be used to assign the cursor to a default display unit. Behavior depends on the current CCD position and display status.
Lower Display Select Button (DSPL SEL/LWR)
- Similar to the upper select button, but used to assign the cursor to a lower display unit.
Note
If an IDU fails or is reconfigured, this button can still restore the cursor to its default location (e.g., IDU5 showing EICAS information).
MENU Button
- Opens the MFD menu for the window where the cursor is currently located; press again to close the menu.
- The MFD menu allows selection of MAP, FMS, CNS, CHKL, or SYN display formats (excluding OMS), similar to the DCP panel functions and the IDU format selection buttons on the MKB.
Cursor Select Button
- Confirms a text entry or selects an interactive element in the area pointed to by the cursor.
