Left and Right Engine Start/Ignition Switches
Panel Overview
The left and right engine start/ignition switches are used to control the start sequence and ignition mode for both engines. Each switch has three positions: START, NORM, and CONT.
Control Element Description
L (R) START / IGNITION Selector Knob
-
Position Descriptions:
- START: Used to initiate engine start on the ground or in flight. The switch remains in this position until start is complete, then automatically returns to NORM.
- NORM: Normal operating mode where the engine igniters engage automatically when required.
- CONT: In specific conditions, keeps both igniters active continuously to prevent flameout.
-
System Response:
- In START or during windmill relight, the FADEC determines ignition activation based on external conditions.
- In CONT mode, igniters operate continuously to ensure sustained combustion and avoid flameout.
