Trim Control Panel


Panel Overview

The Trim Control Panel is used to adjust pitch trim and rudder trim. It consists of two main sections: Stabilizer Trim (STAB TRIM) and Rudder Trim (RUD TRIM).


Control Element Descriptions

STAB TRIM Switches

  • Function: Controls pitch trim (nose-up and nose-down).
  • Operation: Both STAB TRIM switches must be pressed simultaneously.
  • Direction:
    • N.U. (Nose Up): Trims nose up.
    • N.D. (Nose Down): Trims nose down.
  • Notes:
    • Holding the switches for more than 3 seconds will inhibit the trim function.
    • Pressing the switch has no effect if automatic trim is active.
    • If a trim system fault is detected, “STAB FAULT” will be displayed on the EICAS.

STAB TRIM Channel CUT OUT Switches (CH.1 and CH.2)

  • Function: Disconnects the electrical channels for stabilizer trim.
  • Status:
    • Pressed: Corresponding channel is cut out.
    • Released: Channel is active.
  • Notes:
    • If only one channel is cut out, the other remains functional.
    • If both channels are cut out, the stabilizer trim is locked, and autopilot disconnects.

RUD TRIM Knob

  • Function: Adjusts the rudder trim position.
  • Operation:
    • Turn to NL: Trim to the left.
    • Turn to NR: Trim to the right.
    • Approximate trim rate is 1.5° per second.

RUD TRIM RESET Switch

  • Function: Resets the rudder trim to neutral (zero) position.
  • Type: Momentary pushbutton.
  • Limitation: Not functional in Direct Law mode.
