Trim Control Panel
Panel Overview
The Trim Control Panel is used to adjust pitch trim and rudder trim. It consists of two main sections: Stabilizer Trim (STAB TRIM) and Rudder Trim (RUD TRIM).
Control Element Descriptions
STAB TRIM Switches
- Function: Controls pitch trim (nose-up and nose-down).
- Operation: Both STAB TRIM switches must be pressed simultaneously.
- Direction:
- N.U. (Nose Up): Trims nose up.
- N.D. (Nose Down): Trims nose down.
- Notes:
- Holding the switches for more than 3 seconds will inhibit the trim function.
- Pressing the switch has no effect if automatic trim is active.
- If a trim system fault is detected, “STAB FAULT” will be displayed on the EICAS.
STAB TRIM Channel CUT OUT Switches (CH.1 and CH.2)
- Function: Disconnects the electrical channels for stabilizer trim.
- Status:
- Pressed: Corresponding channel is cut out.
- Released: Channel is active.
- Notes:
- If only one channel is cut out, the other remains functional.
- If both channels are cut out, the stabilizer trim is locked, and autopilot disconnects.
RUD TRIM Knob
- Function: Adjusts the rudder trim position.
- Operation:
- Turn to NL: Trim to the left.
- Turn to NR: Trim to the right.
- Approximate trim rate is 1.5° per second.
RUD TRIM RESET Switch
- Function: Resets the rudder trim to neutral (zero) position.
- Type: Momentary pushbutton.
- Limitation: Not functional in Direct Law mode.
