Cold and Dark Start Tutorial
This page outlines the basic procedure to start up the FYCYC-C919X aircraft from a cold and dark state (no power) to fully operational engines. It is intended for pilots who are new to this aircraft.
Procedure
Below are the basic steps for starting the engines from a cold and dark state:
Step 1: Turn on MAIN BATT and APU BATT
Step 2: Set IDU2 (left screen) to SYN page
- Method 1: Press the L button on the left DCP → When the white light turns on, press SYN
- Method 2: Move the cursor over the left half of IDU2 → Right-click → Click SYN
Step 3: Start the APU
- Press the APU MASTER SW switch
- Wait until APU DOOR shows 100%
- Press and hold APU START for 1 second
- Wait for the AVAIL light on the APU START button to illuminate, indicating the APU has successfully started
Step 4: Switch to APU power and bleed
- Press the APU GEN switch to switch electrical power to APU supply
- Press the APU BLEED switch to switch pneumatic source to APU
Step 5: Turn on fuel pumps
- Turn on all fuel pump switches
Step 6: Start engine(s) (left/right)
- Set the fuel control switch to ON
- Once the engine information appears on EICAS, move the START/IGNITION switch to START
- Wait for the engine to start (the word RUN will briefly appear on EICAS)
At this point, both engines are running. Set flaps as required, release brakes, and advance the throttle levers to TOGA to take off.
